PETER DEILMANN CRUISES WINS 2007 PORTHOLE CRUISE MAGAZINE’S “READERS’ CHOICE AWARD FOR BEST RIVER CRUISES” – FOR THE NINTH YEAR IN A ROW

New York, NY December 2007 -- "From scenic itineraries to thoughtful service, Peter Deilmann Cruises has consistently offered guests the best of Europe's fabled waterways," said Bill Panoff, Porthole's editor in chief. "That's why our readers have consistently cited Peter Deilmann as the best provider of a river cruise vacation." Winning the 2007 Cruise Magazine Reader’s Choice Award for Best River Cruises marks the ninth year that Deilmann has been so acclaimed and continues a tradition of well-earned praise from the company’s guests and from many of the world's best travel publications. Deilmann has been offering award-winning European river cruise vacations since 1983, and in 2008 has more than 265 leisurely European river sailings aboard nine deluxe river ships between late March and early November.
“We appreciate the recognition of Peter Deilmann’s long-standing focus on service and value and the tremendous effort on the part of our employees to be sure every one of our guests has a wonderful vacation, in beautiful surroundings aboard our elegant vessels,” said Ron Santangelo, Peter Deilmann Cruises’ president. Other accolades for this privately owned and operated river cruise line include its selection for seven years on Condé Nast Traveler’s Gold List and for three years on Travel + Leisure magazine’s “World Best Awards.” In Great Britain, the UK’s Daily Cruise News announced the prestigious Helmsman’s Award naming Peter Deilmann Cruises “Best River Cruise Company” in December 2006.
Peter Deilmann Cruises, whose North America headquarters are in Alexandria, Virginia, will have nine river ships sailing in 2008 on the Danube, Rhine, Rhône, Seine, Saône, Moselle, Moldau, Elbe, Oder, Havel and Vltava rivers, the Main-Danube Canal and Dutch and Belgian canals.
A pioneer in the river cruise industry in the 1980s, Peter Deilmann was the first to design and build river ships that reflected the style and amenities of ocean-liners. Over the years, Peter Deilmann ships have become known for their elegant style, exceptional cruise itineraries and the best crew-to-passenger ratios -- only 2.5 guests for each crew member.
In 2005 the company introduced “Special Interest Theme Cruises” and has seen their popularity soar. Offerings in 2008 include recitals and concerts performed by distinguished classical musicians and discussions with composers, teeing off on some of the world’s finest golf courses, visiting many of the world’s renowned gardens with an expert and hiking or cycling with learned escorts along some of the world’s most scenic paths.
Deilmann River Cruises are designed for both the first-time and frequent vacationer who likes traveling in comfort with attentive service and fine dining. On board, guests can relax and enjoy the changing river scenes of historic cities, pastoral countryside, castles perched on hillsides, old world villages and sun-dappled vineyards. Adventurous shore excursions, both included and optional, add to the fun.
